September was full of new features, enhancements, and fixes. It also marked the end of our early access period, and we're happy to share that we've opened Spreadsheet.com up to public sign up.
We've made significant improvements to workbook loading performance, resulting in up to 10x faster load times. Shaving seconds off of the loading process makes a big difference to the user experience and we’re delighted to share this progress.
We're thrilled to roll out workbook share by link capabilities and a new sharing experience. When sharing a workbook you'll see a new “Get link” section. Here you can quickly copy a link to the workbook and change the workbook’s link share permissions from Restricted by user to Restricted by domain or Anyone with the link. More details in our September 18th release notes.
We’ve launched a long-planned improvement to related row cells allowing you to see suggested matches as you type. You can now also select a value by pressing ENTER and using arrow keys, or clicking the drown-down arrow in the cell, rather than by opening the row selection dialog. This all makes selecting one or more related rows faster and easier. More details in our September 26th release notes.
Pill-style data types such as Multiselect, User, and Related row, now support text wrap settings at the column, range, and cell level. When set to Wrap, contents of these cells will now wrap as expected. All rows that have not been set to a specific height will adjust automatically to accommodate the content, as shown below. More details in our October 2nd release notes.
Formatting capabilities for Column formula columns have arrived. Now you have explicit and detailed control over the output format of Column formulas. See the new Formatting tab in the Column formula data type dialog.
We’ve made it faster and easier to navigate and select a related worksheet in the Related row data type dialog. Now instead of using a tree, a dynamic cascading series of popups activates on hover.
Similarly, using the Related row lookup data type is also faster and easier. A dynamic popup menu makes it smooth and quick to select your a column based on existing relationships.
Windows: Ctrl + Shift + arrow key
Mac: ⌘ + Shift + arrow key
As in traditional spreadsheets, these keyboard shortcuts now highlight the next contiguous block of non-empty cells, making it fast and easy to select ranges of data with the keyboard.
We also released over 70 fixes and enhancements, including:
