What’s new?

Views are used so frequently in Spreadsheet.com that we found users needed a faster way to create, edit, and switch between them. We also found that new users needed a much easier way to discover them. That’s why we’re excited to launch the new pinnable View sidebar.

In addition, we added two new date format options in Date and Date & time data types based on user feedback, and published 4 new templates including a timely Tax Prep Checklist for those of us getting ready to file.

Let’s take a look.

View Sidebar

You’ll see the new View sidebar pinned open by default in any worksheet that has more than one view. Now you can quickly and easily switch between views, reorder views in the list with drag and drop, and edit view names by double clicking.

New views of any type can be created with a single click using buttons at the bottom of the sidebar.

New date formats

We added two new date format options to Date and Date & time data types based on feedback from you:

• MM-DD-YYYY is now available, with hyphens and padded zeros (e.g. 03-12-2022), as requested by Chris Swanson in the Spreadsheet.com Community.
  ‍
• D is now available, a popular format for calendar and scheduling spreadsheets, as requested by Vertex42 in the Spreadsheet.com Community.

New Templates

We published 4 new templates to the Template Gallery including a Tax Prep Checklist from H&R Block for storing relevant documents in a central location so you’re ready for your accountant, TurboTax, or antique abacus.

The template also includes a 2022 tax brackets table and a marginal tax rate calculator. In addition, worksheets for fun facts and regional tax rates make for some interesting exploration on the history and current state of taxes from ancient Egypt to the present day around the world.

Other newly published templates include:

• Support Tickets with Form (IT)
  Manage help desk support tickets with an embedded form. Use filtered sheet and kanban views to organize tickets by status, priority, and assignment. Publish the form to collect support requests from users on any device.
  ‍
• Product Feedback with Form (Product Development)
  Collect product feedback from customers and customize an embedded product feedback form. Add your questions, choose between free form entry fields, multiple-choice, and star ratings, then share the form with your customers.
  ‍
• Reward Point Tracker (Personal)
  No need for an app. Track and manage all of your card points and organize by status or point expiration dates.

A few features we're busy working on now:

• ‍Grouping
  Based on popular request, we're adding the ability to group rows in Sheet and Gantt views by unique values with multiple levels of grouping and rollup summary calculations.
  ‍
  
• Cross-sheet Formula Improvements
  We’re redesigning the way cross-sheet formulas are computed, optimizing for both reliability and significant performance improvements.
  ‍
• Row Movement
  We're adding the ability to drag and drop rows to reposition them in Sheet and Gantt views. This includes the ability to move parent rows in a hierarchy and have all child rows move with them.
  ‍
• Gantt View and Project Management Improvements
  From the ability to drag parent task bars in Gantt charts, to enabling formulas in project management columns, we have a whole set of Gantt view and project management improvements coming soon.
  ‍
• ‍Trash
  A trash area (i.e. recycle bin) will allow you to recover deleted workbooks.‍
  ‍
• API V1
  We're working on publishing an initial version of our REST API that can be used to programmatically interact with Spreadsheet.com workbooks.
